Prenatal Massage:

Pregnancy often brings challenges with physical and psychological changes. Research shows that prenatal massage helps to reduce muscular tension, joint pain, anxiety, discomfort, and overall prenatal health associated with pregnancy. There is also evidence to support improved labor outcomes with childbirth and the health of the newborn. Prenatal massage includes a variety of techniques, including deep tissue massage and Swedish massage technique to treat muscular pain and discomfort. Prenatal massage can also assist with swelling and edema often caused by reduced circulation and pressure on major blood vessels in the heavy uterus.

Sciatica:

The most common condition we see in prenatal massage is a condition called sciatica. Prenatal clients often report lower back pain often radiating in the gluteal region in later term pregnancy. Massage therapy significantly helps to relieve the muscular tension that impacts the sciatic nerve during pregnancy.

What To Expect During Your Prenatal Massage Session:

An initial assessment will be performed to discuss your areas of focus during your treatment. Depending on the trimester state of pregnancy positional bolsters to maximize comfort and breathing will be assessed. Most sessions are performed in sidelying to maximize comfort and blood flow. Various massage techniques including, Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, and myofascial massage will be performed to your comfort level.

Postpartum massage can be as beneficial as prenatal massage therapy. Post natal massage has been shown to improve quicker recovery time, better overall health, and assistance with your healing journey in motherhood. Based on your customized needs and outcomes, treatment may include a gentle Swedish approach or deep tissue work to address pain syndrome and muscular tension.

Pain syndrome and fatigue are common symptoms in many of our postpartum clients. Breastfeeding positioning and baby carrying often contributes to upper body neck, shoulder discomfort, and lower back pain. Massage is incredibly helpful in helping you to adjust in your recovering body.

Many post natal clients opt to address general relaxation through massage to address fatigue and stress.
